After graduating from UC Berkeley's College of Environmental Design in 1988 with my Bachelor of Architecture degree, I focused all of my creative energy and talent towards the field of architecture. After 20+ years and many successful projects, I've decided to expand beyond the world of architecture and flex my design and artistic talents in other areas.
Hot rods have always been my real passion but I've never had the opportunity to pursue my love of cars until now. I'm currently focusing on custom paint and airbrush work but hope to expand and put my design talents to work on doing complete customs.
Time will tell!
I've been seriously working on my technique and paint knowledge for some time now in my spare time. I recently finished a snow board helmet for my son that really got the ball rolling on the paint side of things. Because of that helmet, I've been given a number of opportunities. The first being the full size "Malibu Barbie" Bronco you can see in the airbrush gallery. Be sure to also check out the shots of the 2002 Monte Carlo SS I just finished...it's pretty cool!
I'm also heavily into photography and have shot an extensive number of hot rods at various car shows, but most have been during Hot August Nights here in the Reno/Sparks area. I've tried landscapes, portraits, still life, and architectural with great success, but just can't find the excitement I get when shooting customs. You can take a peak by checking out the photos I've uploaded or by checking out my photo gallery on flickr at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hardart_kustoms/
I've been married to my wonderful wife for 21 great years and we have 3 incredible sons. They ALL keep me on my toes!
Be sure to check back often to see more of what I'm working on!
